Always Only For My King

Take my voice and let me sing always, only for my King. Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from Thee. Take my silver and my gold not a mite would I withhold. Take my intellect and use every power as You choose. Here am I, all of me. Take my life, it's all for Thee.

green champaign, tired ramona

in 5 days champaign's landscape changed from bare trees and yellow lawns to a beautiful budding trees and nice green grass. we were welcomed home on monday to daffodils in full bloom all over our yard. spring is finally here in champaign! ;) God's creation is truly breath-taking, and to us it was all the more awesome as it seemed overnight since we were in LA.

my body is still trying to catch up on rest from last week's whirlwind visit to LA. i think it's finally getting it's energy back. i didn't think it was going to take so long to catch up, but like soybeans are fun said to me earlier, "i need a vacation from my vacation". :)

cravings

this weekend a lot of my friends asked if i had any "strange" cravings. i haven't had any strange cravings, but when i do have cravings, they don't last very long (i usually eat the stuff a couple of times and i don't crave it as much anymore). :P here they are (roughly in order):

instant ramen
mcdonald's
hamburgers
spaghetti
pasta
tortillas*
cheese*
pizza
man toa (steamed chinese buns)
zhong chi (chinese sticky rice)
kraft macaroni and cheese (the blue box)
bagels with cream cheese
ice cream
cinammon bears
cake

* these cravings have stayed throughout pregnancy.

spring break summary so far

friday - sunday: in-laws come into town and visit.
sunday - wednesday: mom comes to visit.
tuesday: primed walls of bedroom to be painted.
wednesday: painted bedroom walls.
thursday - monday: trip to LA for a wedding.

so i guess it hasn't been too much of a break really, though we did enjoy having our parents here-- it was a great BIG blessing. :)

sleeping adventures

in the middle of the night yesterday, i was half-awoken to a finger being poken on my forehead. i thought that nat was telling me to move over, so i rolled over. this morning, nat asked "did i hit you last night in the head?" i told him i think he poked me in the forehead, and he said, "oh, i think i did! i don't know why i did that. i thought it was weird, so i just rolled over". we both had a good laugh about it, and i've been teasing him all morning about it by poking him in the forehead. ;)

cleaning the house

nothing inspires our family to clean the house like visitors (especially parents). to spread out our chores this week, i was inspired by jadeefj to clean 30 min a day. at first, i didn't want to any of my chores, but once i got started i packed in 30 to 60 minutes of cleaning each day. i think the sunny days outside helped give me further motivation to clean because it made me more cheerful. our house is more tidy and less dusty, which is nice. unfortunately, i'm not sure if i'll have enough motivation to this routine after our guests leave. :)

credit card convenience

nat and i rarely have cash on us because of the convenience of the credit card (though there are still a few places we go to in town that only take cash). a couple of days ago we went to go buy some ground pork, and the grand total was $0.62. i felt silly paying that on credit card (i think my minimum amount for a credit card purchase is $3), so i scrounged around in my wallet for some change. eventually, nat had to run into the car to get an extra quarter. now i don't know what's sillier, making the cashier wait or paying with the credit card. :P

a woman's post, men beware!

i haven't had to buy bras in awhile, but due to my changing figure, i was in dire need of a new set. i went to victoria's secret to get measured, and the woman that helped me was nice enough and suggested me try on some bras that i would like. i did like them until i looked at the price tag. $45 PER BRA! i couldn't believe they could charge so much for one bra (nat couldn't either)!

i basically high-tailed myself out of there and went to a department store. luckily they had a sale on top of a sale, so i walked out with 3 bras for less than $30.

pregnancy, the untold stories

the further along i am in my pregnancy, the more amazed i am in how God orchestrated pregnancy both in the changes of the child and the mom. some of these amazing things are shared more often than others (i.e. the pregnant lady "glow", feeling the baby move for the first time), but i thought it would be more fun to share some of the stranger/weird things that i've found out so far (new leaves helped inspire this post from a conversation we had tonight):
  • before week 12, the baby looks really, really weird--early on it has a split open "head", it has gills, it has a tail, it has "paddles" instead of hands, and at week 10 it looks like a fish.
  • women can grow extra flaps of skin--i have two, one underneath each arm pit that look like moles.
  • as my hips have widen, i've started to walk differently (some may say it looks even like a waddle =)).
  • feeling your skin stretch as you start expanding--when i sneeze or cough, my skin feels super taut.
i'm sure i'll add to the list as i progress. :)

oh, i just also like to thank y'all for your love, support, encouragement, and prayers during this time for nat, i, and the baby. :)
